About 60,000 Halo tumblers sold at Wawa convenience stores in eight states and the District of Columbia are being recalled after four people cut their fingers and mouths on the metal straw, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The recall involves 24-ounce reusable plastic tumblers that have “Wawa” printed on the side. They come in four styles: “The Mermaid” which is pink and green, “Island Surf” which is blue and yellow, “Sailor Breeze” which is tan and orange, and “The Galaxy” which is blue and pink. All the tumblers come with a tan lid.
Halo said they were sold in the following states back in August for about $13 each:
- Alabama
- Washington, D.C.
- Delaware
- Florida
- North Carolina
- New Jersey
- Pennsylvania
- Virginia
- Maryland
What should I do if I bought one of the Wawa tumblers?
The CPSC said consumers should immediately stop using the recalled metal straw that comes with the tumbler and contact Halo for instructions on how to receive a free replacement silicone straw. Or, you can simply scroll to the bottom of the safety recall notice on Halo’s website and fill out this form.
Can I get a refund for the Wawa tumbler?
If you don’t want to keep the tumbler, you can return it with the metal straw to receive a refund in the form of a $15 gift card. In order to receive the refund, you must return the original tumbler and metal straw to Halo, but you don’t need to include proof of purchase (or a receipt).
Halo will provide a prepaid label for shipping the recalled units, but asks that you don’t return the tumbler to Wawa stores.
