Donald Trump is set to be the next president of the United States. Yet, in an election cycle where national and swing-state polls were neck-and-neck for weeks, it was easy to believe that Vice President Kamala Harris was on track for a landslide victory—or at least, that’s what your TikTok feed might have suggested.

“For the astrology girlies, I have been studying Kamala’s charts and it looks like she is not only going to win but she is going to be winning a second term,” posted TikToker @astrolinaaa yesterday. “Y’all, I’m feeling so patriotic right now, Florida might turn blue,” another TikToker posted excitedly. Major election forecasters even echoed this sentiment, projecting a sweeping blue win as polls opened.

But that enthusiasm quickly waned as Trump rapidly surged ahead of Harris. “Maybe the blue shift was the friends we made along the way,” one user concluded in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

TikTok star, Dean Withers, who rose to prominence this election cycle by debating right-wing conservatives on his social media platforms, called the result around the same time.

“America has failed its women and daughters. Because Kamala Harris will not be our next president, 60 SA victims per day will continue to be denied access to abortion. America has failed its economy tonight. Because Kamala Harris will not be our next president, we will have tax policy that will unfairly benefit rich people while serving as a detriment to members of the lower and middle class because of Trump’s tariffs,” he said in a video that’s already amassed 15.3 million views. “We must move forward and we don’t know what that looks like yet, but I’ll keep you posted.”

As Trump’s historic victory was officially announced just after 5:30 A.M. Wednesday after winning Wisconsin, many turned to social media to share their shock and grief upon waking up and hearing the news. “Today I have to go in to work and listen to a bunch of 7-11 yr olds talk about how happy they are that my rights will be taken away because their Floridian parents taught them that I deserve it,” wrote the same TikToker today who posted feeling patriotic just yesterday.

“Okay so I was wrong,” posted @astrolinaaa in the early hours of Wednesday morning. “But if you think right now is the time to tell me you dont believe in astrology . . . that is the least of our worries.”
